Paterson Boy, 13, Killed In Dog Attack Identified

PATERSON, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) — Authorities have identified the 13-year-old boy who was killed when a 115-pound bull mastiff dog attacked him and another youth in Paterson.

City resident Kenneth Santilla and another 13-year-old boy were walking along a street when the attack occurred Friday afternoon, police said. The boys then ran off in different directions.

Santilla was found dead late Friday night, shortly after he was reported missing. But a cause of death has not been determined.

The other boy, whose name has not been released, and the dog’s owner, 50-year-old Paterson resident Paul Clarke, both suffered bite wounds.

Authorities have said Clarke stabbed the animal “quite a few times” during the attack. The dog was euthanized, and its remains will be tested for rabies.

No charges have been filed.
