An excited dog lays waiting in the sun,
Ignoring the loneliness,
not wanting to run.
He has been here for months now,
sitting and waiting on you,
he sits on the old porch whining boo hoo hoo.
He believes you will be back or so you told him that day,
He believed you were coming home but away you stayed.
He awaits for your return,
and longer he stays,
He sits on that porch dreading the day.
His body is failing him,
He moves with no speed,
Famished and hungry but still no leave.
He rolls on his back,
eyes glazed to the sky,
Still waiting for your return and lonely he dies.
